Manure calculator for Dutch dairy farms

Put your manure where the crop needs it, not just where the rules allow it.

Most manure plans are built to fill the legal limit, field by field, at the same rate. The SoilBeat manure calculator plans every slurry and manure source per field and per cut, shows what each field still needs, and keeps your nitrogen within the legal limits as you plan.

The usual manure plan

Why the usual manure plan costs more than it should

Most plans start from the legal limit and work backwards. That answers “how much may I spread?”, not “where does it do the most good?”.

  1. The same rate on every field

Fields differ in soil, crop and history. Spreading one rate everywhere over-supplies some fields and leaves others short.

  2. Nitrogen gets all the attention

Plans are built around the nitrogen and phosphate limits. Shortages in potassium, sulfur or calcium only show up later, in yield or silage quality.

  3. Paying twice for nutrients

When nobody calculates what the manure already supplies, the top-up fertilizer often buys nutrients the field already has.

  4. A spreadsheet per farm

For agronomists, every plan is rebuilt by hand. A new manure analysis or an extra cut means starting again, and checking the legal room per cut takes hours.

Manure is your largest fertilizer source. Planned per field and per cut, it covers most of what the grass needs, and what’s left to buy is small and specific.

How it works

From field needs to a manure plan and calendar in six steps

  1. Set up your fields

Your management zones load automatically. Add soil type, planned crop, a soil biology score and the soil analysis to use, or none.

  2. Calculate what each field needs

Soil balance plus crop uptake from the expected yield, minus nitrogen from soil biology and clover or cover crops. The agronomist can adjust each field.

  3. Enter your manure sources

Slurry, thin fraction, solid manure and more, with your own analysis. Set the number of grass cuts, an autumn application, or application moments for arable land.

  4. Distribute the manure

The calculator divides each source over fields and cuts, based on need, composition, nutrient availability and the stock you have. The agronomist reviews the result.

  5. See what’s missing and your legal room

Per field, cut and nutrient you see what is still needed, and your nitrogen use against the legal limits, cut by cut.

  6. Top up and plan

Get a top-up proposal from your own products, or build it by hand. Everything lands in one calendar per field and cut, ready to export as PDF or CSV.

The numbers come from a fixed calculation model, not from AI. Pulse AI can explain the plan and compare alternatives, and the agronomist approves the final plan.

What it gives you

Better use of manure, less fertilizer to buy

  1. For dairy farmers

One clear plan per field and per cut: which manure, how much, what to top up and when. You see your remaining legal nitrogen room before each application, and you buy only the fertilizer the fields still need.

  2. For agronomists

Build a full manure and fertilizer plan for every client from one model, instead of a spreadsheet per farm. Change the number of cuts or a manure analysis and the plan recalculates. Your own adjustments stay visible.

Questions about SoilBeat

What should I know before starting?

Who is the manure calculator for?

For dairy farmers in the Netherlands and the agronomists who advise them. It plans grassland per cut and maize, and can also use application moments for arable land. Explore SoilBeat for dairy.

Can I use my own manure analysis?

Yes. SoilBeat starts with a standard profile for each manure source, and you replace it with your own analysis: nitrogen, ammonium nitrogen, organic nitrogen, phosphate, potash, sulfur, magnesium, sodium and calcium. Check supported lab reports.

Does it check the legal manure limits?

It shows, cut by cut, the nitrogen from animal manure against the 170 kg N per hectare limit, and total effective nitrogen against the norm for the crop and soil type. It is a planning aid: you remain responsible for your official manure administration. Talk to us about your farm.

Is the plan calculated by AI?

No. Quantities, distribution and top-up are calculated by a fixed calculation model. Pulse AI can explain the plan and answer what-if questions, and the agronomist adjusts and approves the final plan. Explore agronomic intelligence.

Do I need a soil analysis for every field?

No. For each field you choose one soil analysis, or none. With an analysis, the soil balance is part of the calculation; without one, the plan is based mainly on crop needs, expected yield and nitrogen credits. Compare soil, tissue and sap analysis.

What does it cost?

€100 per year, paid once a year. The manure calculator is an add-on for Farmer Pro (€449 per year) and Advisor (€995 per year) licenses. See all plans.

What do I get at the end?

A complete plan as PDF with needs, manure, remaining needs, top-up products and calendar per field; the planning as CSV; and the full calculation data. Approved applications become activities in SoilBeat. See how advice becomes tasks.
