Multizone fertilizer calculator

One fertilizer plan for every zone, not one field at a time.

Most farms have zones with different soils, crops and histories, yet the fertilizer plan is still written field by field. The SoilBeat multizone calculator plans all your management zones together: each zone’s crop needs, spread over the season and covered by the fertilizers in your own workspace, as a costed plan per zone and per application moment.

Included in Farmer Pro and Advisor · Costed plans with your own fertilizers · Up to 17 nutrients per zone

The usual fertilizer plan

Why field-by-field fertilizer plans cost time and money

Agronomists and growers know a farm isn’t one field. Soil type, crop, cover crop and history change from zone to zone. Yet most plans are still built one field at a time, often in a spreadsheet.

  1. One rate across different zones

A clay zone after potatoes and a sandy zone after a vetch–rye mix get the same rate, so one is over-fertilized and the other runs short.

  2. Cover crops counted by gut feeling

Nitrogen released by oilseed radish, vetch or clover depends on biomass, N content and the C:N ratio. Without a calculation it is guessed, or ignored.

  3. No soil analysis for every zone

Not every zone has a recent sample. The plan stalls or falls back on a standard rate, instead of planning on crop needs and credits.

  4. Days of rework every season

Per zone, per crop and per application moment, then converted into products and amounts. For an agronomist with many farms, that adds up fast.

Every Dutch farm has had to make a yearly fertilization plan per field since 2023. Do the arithmetic for all zones at once, and that obligation becomes a better plan.

How it works

From zones to a fertilizer plan in four steps

Set up the zones, spread each zone’s needs over the season, choose your products, and SoilBeat calculates the plan for every zone and moment.

  1. Set up zones and crops

    Set up zones and crops

Name the plan and select the management zones to include. For each zone, set the planned crop, expected yield, plant and harvest dates, number of fertilizations, previous cover crop and soil biology score. Fill in dates and fertilizations for all visible zones at once, and SoilBeat flags every zone that is still missing information. Choose whether to plan micronutrients too.

  2. Spread the needs over the season

Spread the needs over the season

SoilBeat calculates each zone’s crop uptake for up to 17 nutrients, from N, P and K to micronutrients such as iron, manganese, zinc, boron and molybdenum. Spread each nutrient over the zone’s moments, from before planting to every application during growth, with shares that always add up to 100%. Filter by crop or number of fertilizations and use the master rows to set the spread for many zones at once.

  3. Choose your fertilizers

    Choose your fertilizers

The calculator works with the fertilizers in your own SoilBeat workspace, uploaded by the grower or the agronomist, so every plan uses products the grower already uses and can actually get. Uncheck anything this farm can’t or won’t use, filter by origin, producer, application method (soil or foliar), form (dry or liquid) and certification, check each product’s composition, and add new products at any time.

  4. Get the plan per zone and moment

Get the plan per zone and moment

SoilBeat works out which of your fertilizers cover each zone’s need at each moment: the total per product, the amount per moment, and the kg/ha and kg per zone. The plan is costed, so you see what each product adds to the bill and can swap products to compare options before you order. A nutrient balance per moment shows where each need is met, still short or in excess, and why, for example when none of the selected products supplies copper.

Every number is traceable: the need, what your products supply and the difference, per nutrient, zone and moment.

What it gives you

One plan for the whole farm, zone by zone

  1. For agronomists

Plan every zone of a client’s farm in one session, with your own spread and product choices. Because every number shows where it comes from, you can explain the plan and its cost to the grower line by line.

  2. For growers

Fertilize each zone for what its crop actually needs, see what the plan costs before you order, and buy only the products and amounts it calls for.

  3. Costed, with products you can get

Every plan uses the fertilizers in your own workspace, so it matches what the grower already uses and has access to. With prices set, you see the cost and can swap products to find the best option.

Questions about SoilBeat

What should I know before starting?

Do I need a soil analysis for every zone?

No. The plan is built on each zone’s crop needs, based on the planned crop and expected yield, so zones without a recent soil analysis can still be planned. Compare soil, tissue and sap analysis.

Which nutrients can it plan?

Up to 17: nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium and sulfur, plus iron, manganese, copper, zinc, boron, sodium, molybdenum, cobalt, silicon, aluminium and selenium. You can switch micronutrient planning off. Explore the soil balance calculator.

Can one plan cover zones with different crops?

Yes. Each zone has its own crop, expected yield, plant and harvest dates and number of fertilizations. Filter by crop or by number of fertilizations to edit groups of zones together. Explore SoilBeat for agronomists.

How do I spread the need over the season?

Each zone has a moment before planting and one for every fertilization during growth. You set the share of each nutrient per moment, and the shares always add up to 100%. Moment dates can be changed per zone. See how advice becomes tasks.

Which fertilizers can I use?

The fertilizers in your own SoilBeat workspace, uploaded by the grower or the agronomist. That way the plan always uses products that are common on the farm and that the grower can actually get. Filter them by origin, producer, application method, form and certification, add new products, and uncheck anything this farm won’t use. Read the buyer’s guide to fertilizer software.

What if my products can’t cover a nutrient?

The plan shows that nutrient as short for each zone and moment, with the reason, for example that none of the selected products supplies it. Select or add a product that does, and the plan shows the new balance. Excess is flagged in the same way. Check supported lab reports.

Can I see what the plan costs?

Yes. The plan is costed: it shows the amount and total cost per product when prices are set for your fertilizers. Agronomists and growers can swap products and compare the cost of different options before ordering. See all plans.

Is this my official fertilization plan?

No. It is a planning tool. You remain responsible for your official fertilization plan, your manure administration and checking legal limits. Plan manure per field and per cut.
