Traditional farming methods that heavily rely on synthetic chemicals and monocultures have a negative impact on the environment. They contribute to problems like water pollution, soil degradation, and excessive use of freshwater. The use of chemical pesticides also raises health concerns. Additionally, agriculture is a significant source of greenhouse gas emissions. These facts emphasize the importance of adopting more sustainable farming practices to reduce these harmful effects on the environment and human health.
Regenerative agriculture and agroecology aim to maintain healthy soil, promote biodiversity, and store carbon, which helps reduce the environmental impact of farming. However, implementing these practices on farms requires innovative technology.

Introducing SoilBeat - an easy-to-use software solution designed to help farmers transition to regenerative farming. Our goal is to make sense of complex soil, plant health and other relevant data and provide practical recommendations that farmers can use every day. But we need your help to make it happen!

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of our SoilBeat application, working in close collaboration with our CTO.

• Translate requirements from farmers, agronomists and other users into user-friendly solutions to help translate complex soil and plant health data into practical recommendations for farmers.

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of developers, fostering a high-performance culture.

• Collaborate with customers, marketing, sales and your IT colleagues to understand requirements and provide robust and scalable software solutions.

• Help develop the necessary architecture by suggesting relevant building blocks (e.g., React including relevant components or docker extensions) to speed up building the robust and scalable platform.

Skills & Experience

• Passionate on creating impactful and practical technical solutions.

• With 6+ years of experience in TypeScript/JavaScript with experience on building frontend solutions including – backend solutions. 

• Proven track record of leadership in tech roles, guiding development teams to success. 

• Excellent english communication skills across teams and roles are a must. 

• Experience in handling large data sets and expertise in scaling machine learning models will be highly valued.

• You need to be based in the Netherlands, preferably in the northern provinces
